An AFI client is getting a new dining room soon! We designed a banquette along one wall of the room, which has to fit exactly since it adjoins the kitchen. The new seating will have 8 inch legs that will set in from the wall 1.5 inches, basically allowing them to wrap around the existing 7 inch baseboard. This means a tight fit without making it a built-in (something this client wanted to avoid). We love getting design so specific to the client!
For this happy family’s everyday dining area, I am considering a new fabric collection called Trade Routes. It just arrived from Thibaut. It’s fun, with lots of movement and a busy field. That translates to help hiding stains! We will also seal the banquette with a great, non toxic fabric protectant we use. By the way, Boeing uses the same fabric treatment on their planes!
Working with local, family owned businesses in Charleston means clients get custom furnishings created specifically for them. I prioritize taking the time to visit installers and discuss projects one to one. My upholsterer is creating a piece exactly to our measurements. His friendly face and all his family members who greet me are one of the best parts of my job! Our client may not meet all the people who are a part of making their space beautiful. But they will enjoy all the craftsmanship and care that are the result.
